5 Smart Home Devices to Elevate Your Lifestyle
My never-ending love for smart home devices started when I bought a smart speaker from an online store. It was on a clearance sale, and since innovative technologies always fascinated me, I decided to buy it.
Since then, I’ve bought several smart home gadgets, and trust me, nothing elevates your lifestyle more than these devices.
Here, I’ll share my top five picks, which I believe can positively impact your lifestyle. Besides taking over redundant tasks, you can share household responsibilities and ultimately bring convenience to your life with these smart gadgets.
So, let’s get started.
Voice-Activated Smart Speakers
My smart home speaker is likely the most important gadget in the house. Almost all my smart gadgets are connected to it, and can be controlled via voice commands.
Other than this, I can use my smart speaker to order groceries, check for weather updates, or make a phone call without lifting a finger. Plus, an underrated feature of a smart speaker that I admire the most is how it keeps reminding me of pending tasks.
Though it can be a little frustrating, it has always reminded me to pay utility bills on time.
Having said that, smart speakers, along with other gadgets, are bandwidth-sensitive and require a reliable connection to work efficiently. Speaking from experience, my smart gadgets started to glitch and lag while executing my commands. That is when I realized it was time to switch to a faster and reliable connection.
However, after switching to AT&T WiFi Plans, a fiber-based connection that offers symmetrical speeds, i.e., similar upload and download speeds, all my smart gadgets worked like a breeze. Even so, I added a few more gadgets recently, and they haven’t glitched or lagged for once.
Smart Domestic Robots
Domestic robots are my favorite smart gadgets on this list. Such robots are perfectly capable of reducing your workload around the house. Let me explain how I’ve delegated some of the most tedious household responsibilities to a couple of domestic robots.
First, I’ve got a multi-purpose cleaning robot that can mop floors and vacuum carpets around my house. I can control it via voice or its app, and with the help of smart sensors, this bot can easily avoid obstacles and navigate around my house.
Impressed by how efficient my multi-purpose cleaning robot was, I bought a lawn mower. I’ve connected this lawnmower to my smart speaker, meaning I can control it via voice. Besides mowing the overgrown grass, it can also create different designs.
Smart Thermostats
Installing a smart thermostat is a great idea when you want to reduce your energy bills and improve your lifestyle simultaneously. Most smart thermostats can be connected to your voice assistant. Plus, you can also remotely control them from anywhere via their app.
Also, what I like most about smart thermostats is that they can learn and adapt to your temperature preferences. For instance, my smart thermostat automatically turns on half an hour before I get home. This way, I always come home to a cozy and comfortable temperature, just the way I want.
Last but not least, smart thermostats can also generate energy usage reports and offer tips to reduce your energy bills.
Also, on a side note, if you don’t have the technical expertise, don’t try installing a smart thermostat. In most cases, installing a smart thermostat includes dealing with home wiring. And, it’s best to take a professional’s help, especially when you don’t have the technical knowledge to install it.
Smart Locks and Doorbells
I’ve installed a smart lock and doorbell on the front door of my house. In my opinion, while these gadgets might be small, they are highly effective when it comes to securing your house and positively impacting your lifestyle.
Though smart locks and doorbells are separate gadgets, I prefer using them together. I believe using them in a combo brings in more comfort.
For instance, whenever someone knocks on your door, you can see them via the doorbell’s camera. And, with the help of a smart lock, you can automatically open the door.
This way, these small gadgets can dramatically improve your lifestyle and bring convenience.
Smart Security Sensors
There are different types of security sensors, such as fire, smoke, and window, that you can find. And, each of these sensors is equally helpful in improving your lifestyle. I’ve only equipped my house with window sensors, and they’re a lifesaver.
There have been instances when I or my wife forgot to close windows before leaving the house. However, with window sensors in place, we don’t have to worry, as we’ll get a notification if someone tries to enter our house.
So, these are my top picks of smart home gadgets that’ve elevated my lifestyle, and can do the same for you.
However, before I wind up, I’ve got a little suggestion.
Ensure whichever gadget you buy seamlessly integrates with your smart speaker so that you can control it via voice command. Otherwise, you’ll need to control those gadgets separately via their apps, which at times can be inconvenient.
